GnomeHaven Computer Services provides a photo archival service for your family historical photographs. As time goes on the treasures of family history slowly degrade; photos are created with chemicals on specialty paper and that combination cannot retain its original quality forever. By using a high resolution scanning process to record the photograph as a digital image the treasured memories are saved from any further degradation. In addition, you never have to think about who gets what picture anymore - everyone can have a copy of all the treasures.

A digital image also creates the opportunity to "fine tune" a photograph just like the experts used to do in the dark room. Just a bit out of focus? Wished you had a larger size of that picture? Slightly over or under exposed? All these things can be corrected with a digital image.

There are some services out there that will scan your photos for pennies - we can't compete with them, as they send your pictures to a foreign land where someone for a few dollars a day does the work. Some people are comfortable with this, and some are not. If you choose GnomeHaven to archive your photographs we will do all the work right here in Portland, Oregon and return along with your originals a CD with the new digital images and a presentation display so you can browse them at your leisure. We will also associate any documentation information (names, dates, comments, etc.) directly with the digital image so anything you had written on the back of the picture will always be kept with the image.
