At GnomeHaven Computer Services our training mission is to inform and educate you about your computer and the computing experience. There are lots of sites and classes that will teach you how to use a particular software program such as Word, Excel, Quickbooks, or Photoshop. Our focus is to help you understand how these programs can do what they do.

Giga-who? Mega-what? You have a something hard drive with a whats-it memory and a something else that doesn't make any sense. And, if you want to know more there are thick books you can buy or expensive classes you can take - but often they don't seem to say in plain english what you want to know. If you open the computer to see what is going on you're disappointed because there is nothing to be seen other than a spinning fan or two. How does this thing work?

Our goal is to help you understand this technology with simple analogies that bring out the general concepts of what is exactly going on inside these machines. We also use simple analogies to explain what is happening on the Internet with websites and e-mail. If you wish to explore the technology further we can provide more in-depth information - as far down the rabbit hole as you wish to go.

We are constantly thinking about how to translate these concepts into a language everyone can understand. Our main training focus is to give seminars in house parties to small groups of interested individuals. As we develop more topics we will be announcing them here, so check back often.
